Yes Sony Xperia S isn’t a very new phone but am about reviewing a device that has stood the test of time –our time!
Sony Xperia S is also known as Nozomi or ARC HD and it has been in the market for about a year now. It happened to be the first Sony-only smartphone after Sony acquired
Ericsson’s stake in Sony Ericsson mobile company in January, 2012.
A LOOK AT THE SONY XPERIA S
DISPLAY: The Sony Xperia S has a 4.3 inch touch-screen with the Sony mobile BRAVIA engine which optimises the picture. The capacitive touch screen was tied with HTC Rezound for the highest pixel density in any mobile phone at the time of its release., it is capable of displaying 16,777,216 colours!.
CAMERA: A 12MP front camera with a 1.3MP secondary camera. It records HD videos at 1080p at 30fps. The camera has the Exmor-R Technology for low light capturing.
SPEED AND PERFORMANCE: The device comes with a 1.5GHz dual core . It has NFC(Near Field Communication) which can be used with Xperia smart tags.
MEMORY: 32GB Hard drive and 1GB RAM.
GPU: Adreno 220, Accelerometer gyno, proximity and compass.
BROWSER: HTML%, Adobe Flash support, Java MIDP emulator.
BATTERY: Non removable Li-ion battery 1780mAh upto 450 hours stand by time.
GENERAL: Its a shame it was released with a Gingerbread (2.3) but fortunately it can be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich and Jellybean!
For the GAMERS, it comes with a PlayStation Certified which allows you to play PlayStation Suite games and connect to Sony Entertainment Network accessing Music & Video Unlimited.
Sony Xperia S neatly ties with the HTC One X for the best camera. Its physical button and detailed picture quality is way past the Nokia N8
We can praise the Xperia S for its Hardware, distinctive design, Hi-Def. display, efficient camera and Voice clarity, but then everything has its ups and downs.
WHAT I DONT LIKE:
Though the Sony Xperia S has all those spanking features, it lacks removable Storage and battery. If not for these and its meagre Gingerbread, it would have topped the likes of Galaxy Nexus, HTC oneX, LG Optimus 4X HD B and of course the Galaxy SIII. But once it is updated to Jelly Bean, it will go a very long way.
So far, am still waiting to get the jaw-dropping, eye-dazzling and intriguingly powerful Samsung Galaxy SIV. Pheww!!! What a day! We say keep it up to SONY!
