Motorola, this week, unveiled the brand new Moto X Android phone that is indeed a rival to the best selling Samsung galaxy S4. We shall do the specification review of this latest super baby on the Android family that boasts of a 1.7GHz contextual duo core processor.

Specifications review of Motorola Moto X Android phone:

Moto X spec review

Operating System:

One of the rarest thing about this device is that you get an out of the box Jellybean 4.2.2 OS with it! This has been rumoured to be a preferential treatment Google gives to her own Motorola phone. This is good news to all who purchase this device because you know more have to pass through the stress of the OTA upgrade procedures.

Hardware and design:

The Moto X device weighs 130 grams which isn’t bad at all. Its dimensions are 65.3 x 129.3 x 5.6-10.4 mm which is because of its 4.7 inch screen.

The design is great though not unique. It has a rounded edge rectangular design typical of Android devices. One of the greatest features of the screen of the Moto X is that it has a glass coating that wraps around the sides.

Speed and Performance:

The speed of this new device is impressive. Though a duo core, it is loaded with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (MSM8960Pro) 1.7 GHz Motorola X8 System (SoC+NLP Processor+Contextual Processor) which must be some formidable forces combined together to produce a great result 😉

Display and resolution:

The display of the Moto X as expected is excellent. It has a 4.7-inch screen with Super AMOLED 1280×720 pixel screen display. Isn’t that great? This is similar to the Gionee Dream D1 which fortunately is a lot cheaper than this.

Camera:

The Moto X comes with a 10.5MP back camera and a front 2MP camera making the device excellent for taking pictures though not as excellent as that of that of the Samsung GS4 which is up to 13MP!

Connectivity:

The Moto X has almost everything you need to surf the net. From the 4G network to the WIFI Hotspot, after all its an high-end device so we aint surprised at all.

Battery:

Where we have a bit problem is with the battery of this Moto X. don’t be disappointed yet because the battery is a 3.8V and 2200mAh battery! It’s great but not like the 2600mAh of other phones of its class. But we shouldn’t forget that the screen size is 4.7 inches so the display will not cut as much power as a 5 inch device.

Price:

We learnt that this device which shall soon arrive here costs about $200 in the U.S and £130 in the UK.

We hope to see it soon here in Nigeria and of course with a reduced price.
