Its new, it has dropped like it’s really hot and we are talking about the brand new Gionee Dream D1 Android phone that we want to review here with the full specifications.

Is this Gionee Dream D1 really new in the market? Yes its new in the Nigerian market because it just dropped this week in Nigeria and so many other countries but we had already posted this specs of this Gionee Dream D1 as way back as March 18, 2013. Since then Mymobnet! Readers have cared so much to know when they would get the phone in the stores and unfortunately I couldn’t give a specific period. Many of our readers at a point felt it was just rumour but Thank God we now have the Jelly Bean Gionee Dream D1 here and I have one that I am reviewing 😉

Now let’s have an in depth look at this Gionee Dream D1.

Hardware and Design:

The Hardware and design of Gionee Dream D1 is great! I was like wow when I first saw it. You will think it is one of the high-end LG Optimus device or even the Samsung Galaxy S2 if it had a bit more rounded corners. Believe me the design of Gionee Dream D1 rocks!

The front look of Gionee Dream D1 looks good and the back looks more solidly built. The ‘metallic’ back casing makes Gionee Dream D1 appears to be more durable than its counterparts. The camera and LED flash at the back boosts the phone’s mature look. You will love especially the back when you see it.

Operating System:

Guess what? Gionee Dream D1 comes with the Android JellyBean 4.1.2! This is rare among these Chinese made droids that has come to take over the market. The Android 4.1 clearly gives Gionee Dream D1 the lead among its competitors for now (27-4-13). The Jelly Bean theme makes the interface of Gionee Dream D1 sleeker than others. This is just one of the things we love about this new Android device from Gionee.

Display:

The display of Gionee Dream D1 is another great thing we love about this phone. For those who detest very large phone like the Gionee V4 or Tecno n7, this Gionee Dream D1 is what you need. Its 4.65” screen is about the best size you can get in the world mobile market –it’s not small and not (too) large. The Super AMOLED PLUS display is innovative. It makes the picture quality of the superb even when viewed from different angles. This is unlike many touch screen phone that has only the now obsolete LCD display that once caught spectators eyes! The GORILLA GLASS screen also makes the phone more durable than others in the market. In fact it is clear now that Gionee is actually competing not just with other Chinese droids but with Samsung them self!

Speed/Performance:

You may not believe this! The CPU of Gionee Dream D1 is Quad core with a 1.2GHz processor speed! We don’t even get this kind of specs from Sony, LG and Samsung Androids that worth at least N50K. Gionee Dream D1 is the fastest phone we have reviewed. All the apps are at your service. They will respond as immediate as possible at your command! The Gionee Dream D1 is just a stable Android Smartphone as one Geek puts it to me. It will just be the fastest phone you may have ever seen!

Camera:

Now let’s take a look at the D1’s camera. With this kind of huge specs, we actually expected a 12MP camera, but wait, who don’t like a 8MP camera? It is simply amazing. The front camera is 1MP which is a shift from the typical 0.3MP that comes with many other Android phones.

The video recording is High definition and when the camera was tested, it can actually capture the picture of a fast moving object without getting blurred; this is great, isn’t it?

Connectivity:

The internet is excellent. A 3G connection with a WI-FI is what we see in it. You can connect your other gadgets and PCs with your favourite WI-FI hotspot.

Battery:

We are not impressed with the battery. It lasts for a day under normal usage and thats not that bad though we would have loved a 2300mAh battery instead of the 2100mAh it came with. Another sad thing about the battery is that it is irremovable. This means that you cannot replace the batter yourself, its internal and it is under the Gionee 15 months warranty period. Perhaps they want to follow the like of Nokia, iPhone and HTC phones but it isn’t cool at all. There are little or no Gionee service centres where this battery can be replaced by an authorised agent and those who carry an extra battery in their pocket because of unsteady power in some countries.

Enough said, Gionee Dream D1 still remains one of the best Android smart phones one can get. The last but not the least important is the…what?….. :>>>

Price: The Gionee Dream D1 is hot cake in the market and it sells for N45K. It would have been better if it was under N40K because many with that amount will rather prefer to round it up to 50 or 70 for a Samsung or similar product. But from the survey we made, Gionee Dream D1 is best selling now and also the price is cheap when you consider the specifications. What else do you want from an Android phone?

Now take a look at the specifications. It is almost same with our March18 post. The difference is that the front camera is now 1MP instead of 0.3MP.
