The news that just got here at Mymobnet! is that Microsoft has just launched a Nigerian portal of the (once?) popular MSN. Yes this may sound like good news to many Nigerians because they can now access their local contents from the Microsoft Network MSN ng site. Now we ask, did Microsoft just wake up from a long sleep?

Yes we asked that because we feel that any big and global company should for long recognise the fact that Nigeria is a big and promising market. Google understood this very long ago and created Nigerian portal in their Google News, introduced Google search in Nigerian languages and now plan to introduce 3 main Nigerian languages into their Google translate!

My snapshot of the MSN Nigerian portal

Don’t Microsoft for long understood that Nigerians and Africans are tired of reading only foreign Celebrity news, foreign Sports, Entertainment, Lifestyle, etc.? What about our D’banj and P-Square? Enyimba and Omotala Kehinde? So any surprise why such former little company like Google and Facebook overtook the giant Microsoft in web contents?

Speaking at the media conference, the acting manager of Microsoft in Nigeria, Awawu Olumide-Sojirin said the MSN Nigeria portal features the trademark MSN homepage dedicated to Nigerian news, sports, lifestyle, entertainment and weather as well as links to other Microsoft-related services such as Bing, Outlook and Skype.

The MSN Nigerian portal can be accessed via ng.msn.com
